Pole & 2 Podiums In Valencia!
What a weekend! Following a mega start to the season, with a handful of podiums and a race win – it was time to go again, this time at the Circuito Ricardo Tormo in Valencia for the 3rd round of the GT4 Winter Series.
After quickly adapting to what was another new circuit, Charlie quickly set about showcasing his skills, alongside teammate Callum Davies in the two-day test ahead of the weekend – where the pair topped the timings, proving to be the drivers to beat as the weekends action unfolded in the Spanish sun.
In qualifying session, Charlie picked up his second pole position of the season, underlining his speed and precision on track. With his teammate Callum securing third, narrowly missing out on 2nd place by just two-hundredths of a second. With the results in hand, it marked a promising start to the weekend.
Unfortunately, the first sprint race ended in disappointment for the team as a mechanical issue forced Charlie to retire the car on the formation lap, resulting in a DNS.
However, the team rebounded on Sunday, after the team worked tirelessly through the night to resolve a fault with the transmission. But after a late night, and some impressive work by the team of mechanics, the car was ready to roll in time for the second race of the weekend, where it was Callum turn to take the wheel. After a competitive drive, he secured second place, securing the first podium of the weekend for the #812 car.
In the one-hour endurance, Charlie started from second on the grid after his blistering qualifying, delivering a commanding opening stint, maintaining a strong pace before handing the car over to Callum as the race reached its halfway mark. The duo worked together seamlessly, and after a determined drive, the #812 car crossed the finish line in third place, securing their second podium of the weekend, adding valuable points to their championship campaign.
With Round 3 now done and dusted, the championship heads to the Spanish desert for Round 4 at Aragon. Charlie and the team will aim to carry the momentum forward as they continue their pursuit of the overall championship title in just over a week’s time.
